Declaration of Covenant Prayer ~Rev. Robert Hunt, April 1607
“We do hereby dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations, as long as this earth remains, and may this Land, along with England, be Evangelist to the World. May all who see this Cross, remember what we have done here, and may those who come here to inhabit join us in this Covenant and in this most noble work that the Holy Scriptures may be fulfilled.”
God warns in Leviticus 26:39-42 that we will waste away in the lands of our enemies because of our sins and our ancestors’ sins; but if we will confess our sins and the sins of our ancestors—their unfaithfulness and hostility towards God, which made God hostile towards them …then God says, “I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.” Likewise, as we humbly repent, God will remember our forefathers’ 1607 First Landing Land Dedication Covenant, hear our prayers, forgive our sins and heal our land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
The First Landing 1607 Project Team is dedicated to making more Virginians – and Americans – aware of the significance of the historical event that took place on April 29th, 1607 on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Our Goal is to increase awareness of the First Landing 1607 history and our Team believes that many Virginians, especially those in the Virginia Beach area, will proudly display their First Landing license plates.
